It was a pleasure to be able to work with this incredible organization once again this year for their annual event. Blessings in a Backpack partners with communities to ensure impoverished elementary school children are fed on the weekends throughout the school year. In 2012 The Waukesha County Chapter was founded to bring this mission to life . . . in our own backyard. They are a self-funded local chapter of the national organization. The weekend gap beginning on Friday afternoon and ending on Monday morning, is a time that many children of struggling families go hungry. Blessings in a Backpack help bridge the gap for impoverished elementary school children every Friday by filling their backpacks with food for the weekend. They have grown from serving 25 children to 590 in 2 years but are not ready to rest. It’s a heart-breaking fact that 4,600 children in Waukesha are hungry over the weekends. Help them bridge the gap.

Here are a few photos of some of the people who attended the Bridging the Weekend Gap event to raise money and awareness. This event was Waukesha County’s Second Annual Gala at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts this past Friday night. It was a wonderful evening sharing with big-hearted supporters.
